Iran seeks to strengthen economic ties with Mali

Mali and Iran have resolved to strengthen economic ties.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, Javad Zarif, held talks this week with Malian officials of the chamber of commerce and industry during which modalities of the economic cooperatiion were discussed. “The purpose of this forum is to discover the potential of this two countries. I am sure you know that we are an influential country in the continent but Mali has enormous potentials in the agriculture, mines, energy and infrastructure domain.“Iran can bring its expertise into our economy,” the chairman of Mali’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry,Youssouf Bathily said.

Iranian officials regret the presence of terrorists in Mali.

Malian officials were appreciated for being tolerant and moderate towards Islam.

“Previously there were contracts between Mali and the private sector in Iran . It was an occasion for us to renew what was already started,” Youssouf Bathily added.

Iranian foreign minister, also called on Mali to settle its domestic problems peacefully in order to preserve national unity.

Javad Zarif arrived in Mali on Thursday in continuation of his West African economic tour.
